Pricing

Is Boketto free?

Yes — every account starts with 3 free tabs. After that, additional tabs cost £2.99 each for 3 months. Every tab includes every feature. See Free credits and paid tabs for the full mechanics.

Is this a subscription?

No. Each £2.99 charge is a one-off purchase that opens a tab for 3 months. We never auto-charge you. If you want to keep a tab going past 3 months you renew it yourself with another deliberate click — and if you don't, the tab quietly closes and goes read-only.

How much does it work out per person?

The £2.99 fee is per tab, not per user — and you can split it with the other people on the tab. On a 4-person tab that's about 75p per person, or 25p per person per month. Most apps in this category charge each user a monthly subscription instead; Boketto doesn't.

Can I get a refund on a paid tab?

Yes — full refunds within 14 days of purchase, no questions. After that we’ll refund pro-rata for the remaining time, and a full refund any time the service has clearly failed you. Refund policy.

A payment failed — what do I do?

A failed payment doesn’t create the tab and doesn’t bill you. Try again with the same or a different card; if it keeps failing, get in touch with the error message and we’ll help diagnose.

How it works

How does the settlement algorithm work?

It calculates each member’s net balance, then pairs people up to settle in the fewest possible payments. Instead of everyone paying everyone, a group of 4 typically only needs 3 transfers. Smart settlements explains the math.

How does penny-accurate splitting work?

When £10 splits between 3, the math is £3.33 + £3.33 + £3.34. Boketto distributes the extra penny deterministically — fair on average across many expenses. Penny-accurate splitting walks through it.

What currencies are supported?

Any currency the European Central Bank publishes a daily rate for — that’s 30+ including GBP, EUR, USD, JPY, AUD, CAD, CHF, NOK and more. Multi-currency support covers the details.

Who pays the FX conversion fee?

Nobody pays Boketto a conversion fee — we use the public ECB rate and don’t mark it up. If your bank charges you for a real cross-currency transfer when you settle up, that’s between you and your bank.

Does it work without internet?

Yes. Boketto is a Progressive Web App, so once you’ve loaded it you can add expenses on a plane, on a hike, or wherever the signal’s gone — they sync the moment you’re back online. Install Boketto covers PWA setup.

Can I use Boketto abroad?

That’s exactly what it’s for. Log expenses in the local currency; balances stay correct in your tab’s base currency. Works offline if your roaming’s patchy.

Account

Do all members need an account?

Yes, but signing up takes seconds — enter your email, tap the magic link in the message we send, you’re in. How magic-link sign-in works.

Can I change the email address on my account?

Yes — open Profile in the app and update your email. We’ll send a confirmation link to the new address before the change takes effect. Your profile.

Can I delete my account?

Yes. Email us from the address on your account and we’ll delete everything within 30 days. If you share tabs with others, transfer ownership first so they don’t lose access. Your account and your data.

Privacy & data

Is my data safe?

Encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest. Magic-link sign-in means no passwords for us to leak. We never store payment card details — Stripe handles that.

Can I export my data?

Yes. Per-tab CSV exports are built into the app. For a full export of everything we hold across your account, ask support and we’ll send you a machine-readable archive within 30 days. Your account and your data.

Where is my data stored?

In the United Kingdom. Boketto is built and hosted by Au Courant Ltd, a UK company, and your data does not leave UK/EU infrastructure.
